Scottsdale dia de los Muertos Fiestas is here!
Join us as LORE Media & Arts, the Old Adobe Mission, and the City of Scottsdale invite you to celebrate and learn about The Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos), a time-honored tradition dedicated to the remembrance of loved ones who have passed on, and the honoring of life itself.
The continuous success and expansion of Scottsdale Día de los Muertos throughout the last eight years have reinforced our dedication to elevating these festivities to a prominent “Signature Event”. This has been achieved by celebrating the cultural heritage, traditions, and ethos of Old Town while simultaneously fostering Scottsdale’s tourism, diversity, and artistic communities on a local, national, and global scale.
The Events, Community, Culture, Theatre, and Art come to life as Old Town Scottsdale celebrates Día de Los Muertos, an ancient Aztec ritual that remembers the dead and mocks death itself. Discover the extraordinary rituals and observances that take place during this ancient Mesoamerican celebration while enjoying family activities, vibrant music, Indigenous and modern folkloric dance, elaborate altar displays, sculptured art, educational lectures, and interactive community altars.
The festivities will feature a variety of traditional events celebrated over ten festive days allowing participants of all ages to engage in the rich cultural heritage of Día de Los Muertos.
This includes an exclusive community charitable effort by LORE Media & Arts & Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company to proudly gift a new and re-imagined performance of dance, music, art, and ancestral ritual. This free event is designed to reach and serve a broader cross-section of the community focusing on under-served and underrepresented communities.
The City of Scottsdale Tourism Development Commission has identified the Scottsdale Día de Los Muertos Fiestas as one of the events that contribute to the strategic plan initiative of culture and creativity, and festival and events. Specifically, a strategy to position Scottsdale as a center for artists, art, and design and expand Scottsdale Civic Center activities and performing arts experiences.
